Sleepover "Why did I even agree to go to that costume party?" Germany muttered to himself as he walked back into his home. He was clad in a slick, black military uniform with a matching jacket and hat, and feeling quite silly for even venturing out of his home in the outfit.

Trapped: Chapter 13About four months after his adoption, Dr. Hiems came into Ivan's room to find the boy. "Ivan, could you come here a moment? I need your help with something in the testing facility," Dr. Hiems asked the light haired boy.

Expecting to be carrying boxes or handing tools to scientists while they tinkered with chips and wires, Ivan readily replied, "Sure, lead the way." Following Dr. Hiems into the testing lab, Ivan was surprised when he saw a lab table with straps on it. It was as if they were going to restrain something. Next to it was a cylindrical robot, white in color and with a small screen. It seemed to be almost finished.

Trapped: Chapter 6Though Matthew was already familiar with the dark, musty hallways, he still felt uncomfortable walking through them. Abruptly, 1-V4N stopped and faced Matthew.

"What would you like to begin searching first?" the robot asked Matthew.

"Huh?" the Canadian squeaked. "Um...I mean... I didn't quite hear the question, could you repeat that?"

1-V4N replied, "Of course. What color underwear are you wearing?"

"Well, white, but I don't see how..." Matthew's face reddened as he realized what he had just answered. "I'm serious! What did you ask me earlier?!" he demanded.

"A bit of humor never hurt anyone, right?" the bot responded.

Trapped: Chapter 9"Disinfect you? How?" Matthew asked, surprised at the bot's request.

"I have not finished formulating my plan…But I would still like to have assurance of your assistance in the matter." 1-V4N paused, waiting for an answer.

The Canadian stared at his companion for a few seconds. Slowly, a small smile formed on his face. "Of course I will. And don't take the plan formulation all to yourself; I'm rather competent you know."

"I'm not sure about that; an AI is in theory infallible, unlike a human's," the robot answered.

"You're one to talk," Matthew retorted, trying to keep a laugh down.

Trapped: Chapter 10Every night, 1-V4N would come into the cell and file away at Matthew's chains using a file it found in one of the labs. Though, it was just the slightest bit, so 83L4-RU5 would not notice. Since I-V4N knew that she might be more wary of his actions after Matthew's revelation, the two only spent about five minutes with each other, in total silence. After feeding the Canadian, usually some sort of canned food, 1-V4N would quietly roll out of the room.

Every morning, 83L4-RU5 would wake Matthew up, usually with her taser. She would then proceed to ask him whether he would reconsider, and leave Ira Labs. He would reply that he was steadfast in h

Trapped: Chapter 14Matthew awoke when a blast of cold air blew into his face. Surprised, the Canadian looked around in surprise to find that he was at the exit of Ira Labs. It seemed as if his imprisonment inside the labs was only a dream.

However, as he looked down at himself, Matthew noticed the broken chains next to him, and accepted the grim truth. 1-V4N had tricked him and kept the Canadian chained in the basement of the labs. As he remembered more and more of what had happened, Matthew felt betrayed, angry, and miserable. Wanting to leave Ira Labs as soon as possible, the Canadian stood up and ran back to his hotel to have a hot meal and warm shower.

Trapped: Chapter 12As 1-V4N watched Matthew fall, he was reminded of when Dr. Hiems and his assistants were still in Ira. As the bot stared at the unconscious Canadian, he began drifting off into a reverie…

"Master?! Give me a break! Who in their right mind would call a kidnapper 'Master?' Unless I somehow get Stockholm Syndrome, I doubt that will happen anytime soon, 8374-RU5!" Matthew blustered, softly panting after he finished speaking.

"Hmph. If I can't get you to do obey now, perhaps starvation will be persuasive enough for you," 8374-RU5 sneered, silently rolling out of the room, leaving the Canadian in total darkne

Trapped: Chapter 11Though he was sure she was lying, Matthew kept thinking about what 83L4-RU5 had said.

"I'm a defense system developed by Dr. Hiems to ensure no one harms 1-V4N."

"It's a lie. Definitely. Just something to deceive me into thinking she isn't harming 1-V4N," the Canadian reassured himself. Afterwards, he sat in silence, drifting off into a reverie of home, friends, family…

"Matthew?" A voice awakened Matthew from his daydream

"Huh?!" Matthew exclaimed.

"It's me, 1-V4N." The familiar pink light glowed softly from the hallway.

"Oh…" Matthew laughed sheepishly as his companion rolled into the room.

"How is your health?" the bot ask

Trapped: Prologue Matthew's phone vibrated in his pants pocket. He pulled it out, pressed the green button, and said, "Hello, this is Matthew Williams."

"Hello, this is awesome," a gruff voice replied.

Matthew sighed, and then asked, "What is it Gil?"

"Hey, no reaction to my awesomeness? You must need to check your ears, "Gilbert cackled. "Anyway, the boss has another job for you, factory inspector."

Matthew replied, "I'll be back tomorrow morning after I get some rest and make a call. Today, I was supposed to scout around the building to see how long it would take to explore it. My friend is expecting a call from me telling how long I'll be here."

Trapped: Chapter 1 After a quick breakfast of coffee and a bagel at a local café, Matthew began his walk towards the abandoned factory. Despite the hustle and bustle of the main street, as the blonde made his way closer to his destination, the less people he saw.

People generally don't hang around empty factories anyway. Unless they're some kids daring each other to go inside and ending up peeing their pants, Matthew thought. Ugh, I hope there aren't any; that makes my job much more unpleasant than it needs to be, he inwardly groaned at the thought.

Trapped: Chapter 3Though he was anxious to leave, Matthew had questions running through his mind. This was a laboratory? What did they test here? Why was it abandoned? Why didn't Gil do his homework before sending me here?!

Curiously, the Canadian looked around the hallways while following the robot. Rusting name cards of forgotten doctors, carts with wheels never to move again, and even stray lab coats covered in dust littered the halls. Taken aback a bit, Matthew had to take a few second to regain his composure. He then replied honestly, "I have to get to know you first before I can judge that."
